The fee for a first-time owner's license is $100. Renewals are $50. All licenses expire on the licensee's birthday. If a participant's birthday falls less than six months from the date of application, the license term may be extended to the following birthday by payment of an additional 50 percent fee. Owners must submit two current 1.5-inch by 1.5-inch photos with their name on the back of each. First-time applicants must submit both New York State and FBI fingerprint cards at a total cost of $99.

Claims may be made by a licensed owner or a person who has not been licensed in any state as an owner upon application for a New York license made 72 hours prior to the intended claim. The person will receive a claiming certificate authorizing him to claim one horse during the 30 racing days following issuance of the certificate. The applicant must designate a licensed trainer to be responsible for the horse.

Click onto link to download USTA registration paperwork from the online forms tab. Call the Stud farm and request they send the mating certificate. After filling out the USTA form mail both the form and mating certificate, along with stated processing fee to the USTA.

The Harness Horse Breeders of New York is the only organization representing regional and statewide interests of the standardbred industry and is made up of active participants. The Agriculture and NYS Horse Breeding and Development Fund is the regulatory body of the New York Sire Stakes.

The Zweig Memorial Trot is named in honor of Dr. Harry M. Zweig, a leader and founding member of the New York Sire Stakes standardbred program.

The Zweig Memorial Trot series is administered by the Harness Horse Breeders of New York State and is for three-year old colt and filly trotters. A list of this year's eligible horses, conditions and nomination form are available by clicking into the Zweig menu bar.

Go to the menu tabs at top of website and click onto Zweig tab for eligibility status for the Zweig Memorial Trot. For NYSS eligibility, click onto the Sire Stakes tab and then onto the eligibility lists which are categorized by gait, sex and age.

In order to change a yearling's name, first contact the United States Trotting Association. You'll need to submit three names in order of preference for approval.
